Hi from Pepsi Center, where the Wild is working on a couple of new drills. Practice was delayed for a few minutes thanks to a pane of broken glass. The coaches were shooting around before the players came out and were trying to hit the crossbar. A shot missed and broke the glass. I'm glad I wasn't blogging behind the glass today.
Brent Burns is not on the ice, but he rode the bike and will be re-evaluated later today. Also after practice, the players have their annual NHL drug meeting, about performance enhancing drugs, etc. Doctors from the NHL are here to go over things that are legal, etc. We decided a bit late to order pizza for it, but we were able to get seven pies for 68 bucks (80 with tip). Glad to be out of California, if only for pizza prices.
Pretty uneventful morning that began in San Jose. We took off a couple minutes early (score! for the travel guy) and got to the rink a bit early, too, for practice. We'll have to have the bus make a couple of runs post-practice, since the coaches will want to go check into the hotel soon. Which reminds me, I need to go call Katrina at our hotel and let her know.
I'll be back tomorrow, Day 7 of the 10-day trip. Still waiting to hear on a possible Saturday night return. This trip seems so long, I surmise, because of the lack of games, especially without any back-to-backs.
In off-ice "news" ...
I had a delightful evening after the game last night. I wanted to find a quiet place for a nightcap, and the place I have gone before was full of bad karaoke. So I found A Perfect Finish (check out the link here
), and had a glass of wine and a magnificent dessert. Special thanks to the gracious hosts, Andre (general manager) and Margaret (server). They stayed a bit late after closing to visit with me. It's on their (and my) calendar, for our next trip to San Jose, that is, in March.
