The Wild is on the ice in preparation for tomorrow night’s game against the Sharks, who have lost three of four, and are coming off a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of the Stars last night here in San Jose. The Sharks have a couple of injuries, but traded for, among others, Anaheim’s Travis Moen today.

For the Wild, it was a pretty tame day. We zipped through security and customs this morning in Vancouver. We had a brief delay waiting for catering, but we landed on time after our two-hour flight to San Jose. One problem -- our bus wasn’t there. Our bus was tied up with the Stars, who practiced here before us, so they had to send another bus out to get us. We were only waiting a couple of minutes -- on the plane, because it was raining when we arrived. Rumor has it there’s bright sunshine out there now.

We have two people from Wild corporate partners watching practice. There’s a group of 60 here, along with some people from the Wild staff. They’re all going to dinner tonight, and attending the game tomorrow. We expect Wild owner Craig Leipold and GM/President Doug Risebrough to arrive in San Jose this evening.

The lines from practice today:
Fritsche-Koivu-Miettinen
Nolan-Belanger-Bouchard
Veillex-Sheppard-Clutterbuck
Weller-Boogaard-Olvecky-Gillies

Andrew Brunette wasn’t on the ice today, but he also didn’t practice on Monday and still played last night.

From here, we’ll go back and check into our downtown San Jose hotel. We’ll be joined tomorrow at practice by Robert, our intern, who is visiting family in the Bay Area. He’ll cover tomorrow’s game for Wild.com, and I’ll still blog throughout the day.

We are flying a regular commercial jet back from Los Angeles (Long Beach, actually) on Sunday after the game. That’s not always the most fun, not just for the space issues, but we also like having people we know work the flight. So, Cindy, our lead flight attendant today, will be on Sunday’s flight home, to make sure the airliner’s flight attendants don’t charge us $5 for pillows, and so they have enough food and beverage on board, etc.

I’ll be back tomorrow, barring any further news today!
