Wild at Stars: Game preview

Quick Pics: Images from the road
Still waiting to see the sun here in Dallas, unfortunately. Cloudy and overcast skies here again today. Optional practice for the Wild this morning saw 17 players on the ice. A group of people from Minnesota that included security staff from the Xcel Energy Center were also in attendance for practice. It was good to see some friendly jerseys in the stands. I don’t know what it is, but watching the Stars practice in all black sure is different compared to our red and green jerseys on game days.

Jacques Lemaire
took his option today and watched a few minutes of practice. It appears the Wild will have the same lineup tonight as Thursday in Denver as Marian Gaborik, Craig Weller, Derek Boogaard and Kurtis Foster were the last four players on the ice.

Niklas Backstrom will make his 58th start tonight, tying the team record for most games played by a goalie in a season (Backstrom 2007-08, Fernandez 2005-06). Backstrom’s  57 starts this season rank tied for third in the NHL behind Marty Turco, who will get his 65th start tonight for Dallas and Miikka Kiprusoff, who has started 63 games this season. Mark Parrish skated again today for Dallas after suffering a head injury earlier this week and should be in the lineup against his former mates.

The Wild will leave for St. Louis tonight after the game, so bags will be packed up and on the bus for a 4:45 p.m. departure to American Airlines Center this afternoon.
