|SUBMIT A MAILBAG QUESTION ... |
This is usually R.S.S. Feed mailbag day, but I’m pushing it to gameday, Wednesday, this week. So submit “behind the scenes” questions to firstname.lastname@example.org before Wednesday.
MEDIA APPEARANCES ...
Cal Clutterbuck will be a guest on KSTP-AM 1500 with Matt Thomas tonight at 7:05 p.m. CST.
KFAN’s morning show, with host Paul Allen, will broadcast live from the penalty box Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon CST.
Players like days off, but Wild players (and media) have joked over the years that life is better when they practice every day, for reasons like Tuesday. The Wild was on the ice for 1:10 on the day before a game, about twice as long as the team would usually skate. But, having Sunday off, Jacques Lemaire wanted to make sure his team was ready for Anaheim tomorrow.
The Ducks, Lemaire explained, are a deep team with three scoring lines and terrific defensemen. He says they are not overly fast, but fast, and super-skilled. One would assume the Wild will get a second straight look at Jonas Hiller, who shut the home team out last month on Hockey Day Minnesota.
Producer Carry Clancy from WCCO TV was at practice today, and she had a shoot afterward with five of the Wild players who play guitar. Should be an interesting jam session -- we’ll make sure we post info about its air date on the R.S.S. Feed. Clancy’s sister is also a big Wild fan, stationed in Russia with the Peace Corps. Carry sends Wild videos to her sister to use as a reward for her students.
All the players also had a meet and greet with a select group of season ticket holders who attended practice today.
One of the alternate names posted above Cal Clutterbuck
’s stall today was “Buttercup,” which, of course, is what Canadian broadcasting icon Don Cherry called him over the weekend on Hockey Night in Canada. Do a Google search for Don Cherry and Cal Clutterbuck
if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
That’s about all the news for today. I’ll be back after Wednesday’s pre-game skate.
