|Media note ... |
Nick Schultz will be a guest on Matt Thomas’ show tonight on KSTP-1500 AM at 6:45 p.m.
Well, that was an interesting morning/early afternoon at Xcel Energy Center. Jacques Lemaire got tripped up along the boards (Antti Miettinen later took the blame) halfway through practice and made his way into the trainer’s room while holding his left arm. Lemaire returned briefly but was the first person off the ice for the Wild’s hour-long skate.
Assistant coach Mario Tremblay took Lemaire’s place talking to the media, and said Lemaire was headed to the clinic for X-rays on the elbow/arm. Wild.com will have more information when we get it, hopefully later today. Tremblay said he could tell Lemaire was hurt right away, after he fell backward to the ice. Miettinen was skating the other way and told the media he just didn’t see Lemaire there.
That overshadowed much of practice. The Wild did a fair amount of skating at the end of practice, making up for no one being on the ice yesterday. Tremblay said the entire team knows how important the two points are against Colorado tomorrow night. The Avs are in Columbus tonight, so the coaching staff will be watching the game.
The Aeros are again practicing at Xcel Energy Center this afternoon. I caught up with broadcaster Joe O’Donnell for a bit. Barry Brust filmed something with Wild.com today. Stay tuned for more details on that!
That’s about it, hockey fans. Time to polish off notes for tomorrow. I’ll be back after Wednesday’s pre-game skate.
