Hello Wild fans, and welcome to The Owner’s Box, which is a new feature here on Wild.com. The Owner’s Box will give me, Craig Leipold, a chance to directly communicate my thoughts with Wild fans, and in turn, give fans a chance to let me know your thoughts and questions.
As many of you know, I am very passionate about this team, and this sport. At any Wild home game, you can see me on the edge of my usual seat with a rolled up game program in my hand and an eye on every second of on-ice action.
Like you, I’m a fan. Nothing feels better than winning, and I take losses hard…maybe too hard.
When the team had a rough start, I was down in the dumps. In the last few weeks, I find myself counting down the minutes until the next puck drop. I love the way the team is playing, and I can’t help but check out the standings every day to see if we’ve moved up a spot. I’m watching so many NHL Center Ice games featuring Western Conference teams, I could probably tell you the fourth line right-winger for the Los Angeles Kings (Peter Harrold, I believe).
Like you, the on-ice product is what I think about the most. I want to see the Stanley Cup being paraded through the streets of downtown St. Paul. I want to see the fans’ faces when that Cup banner is raised to the rafters of the Xcel Energy Center.
However, I am an owner, and as much as I’d like to, there are certain things I can’t get into. I can’t talk about specific players, possible trades or free agent signings. For those issues, I put my faith in Chuck Fletcher, Todd Richards and their staff.
What I can do is engage in a dialogue with you as far as what issues you are curious, passionate or worried about. There are a lot of discussion points that come up throughout the season: The Outdoor Game, Hockey Day, the Olympics, the Draft, the playoffs, and more
I also want to hear about your experiences as a fan, whether you are at the games or watching on TV.
This team belongs to you as much as it does to me, so I want to make sure you view this organization in the most positive light possible. I look forward to hearing from you, and you can expect to hear back from me after the Holidays.
Until then, have a wonderful Holiday season!
