Shawn Belle Is Back With Wild

by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

Defenseman Shawn Belle was recalled on Friday, and he could play against Edmonton on Friday night.
The Minnesota Wild waited so long to get back to full strength, and when the team finally did, the injury bug bit back. Mark Parrish and Derek Boogaard suffered injuries on Tuesday night in Calgary, and both appear minor. On Thursday, defenseman Kim Johnsson suffered a leg injury near the end of the Wild’s 5-2 win in Vancouver.

As a precaution, the Wild called up defenseman Shawn Belle for his second stint with the big club this season. He could be in the lineup on Friday night against Edmonton, assuming that Johnsson is unable to go. Defenseman Petteri Nummelin was placed on injured reserve to make room for Belle.

Belle appeared in four games last month, and he picked up one assist. He’s spent the majority of the season with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). He’s posted a goal and nine assists in 29 AHL games this season.
