Schaefer Recalled After Backstrom Injury

by Glen Andresen / Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild lineup will be missing some familiar and important names on Sunday when the club wraps up a three-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche. After Niklas Backstrom tweaked his groin during Saturday's practice, the Wild recalled goaltender Nolan Schaefer to serve as Josh Harding's backup.

Backstrom isn't the only Wild player hampered with a cranky groin. Pavol Demitra will miss his third straight game with a strained adductor, which is basically a groin injury. Marian Gaborik, who has a history of groin problems will also sit out.

Judging from the mood of Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough, none of the injuries are considered to be serious. But that doesn't help tomorrow.

Cal Clutterbuck, who was recalled on Tuesday, will make his NHL debut tomorrow. Matt Foy will also play, meaning there will be no extra forwards available.

As a reminder, Sunday's game will be played at 2:00 PM, and not at 7:00 PM as originally scheduled. The game will be broadcast live on FSN North and WCCO Radio 830 AM.
