SAN JOSE COACH RON WILSON QUOTES
Saturday, March 25, 2006 versus Minnesota
Was that the response you were looking for from the guys after the last game?
“Yeah, we bounced back well. Our goalie kept us in the game early. Our special teams were pretty good tonight. We started a little slow in that first period, but once we got our legs we were ok.”
Can you talk about Cheechoo’s (Jonathan) play?
“He’s playing very well. He’s in the right place at the right time. He works very hard. Works well with Joe (Thornton). He’s finding the back of the net, and I’m very happy for him.”
This was a big game for Matt Carle.
“He was nervous at times, he had a couple of penalties, one I didn’t think was a penalty, but he bounced back. He can make plays and he skates well.”
This was a big two points for you guys tonight.
“This was huge for us. Earlier in the year we hadn’t played these guys very well. We are treating every game like it’s a playoff game right now, and each point is important. We’re two and one on the road and we’ve got two left on this road trip. So each point is important.”
Can you talk about Cheechoo and Thornton’s play?
“They work well together, one likes to shoot and one likes to pass. Cheechoo is a threat from anywhere on the ice, and Joe can pass the puck very well. Our team seemed to change when we picked up Joe Thornton. Joe controlled the boards down low tonight and he made some very nice passes. This win was huge for the team morale.”
