Noon CDT, Monday

It's time for the first official road trip of the 2009-10 season - by road trip I mean overnight - as we're headed to Philadelphia at 1:30 today. The Wild skated at 10:30 today, a departure from years past where we would fly to a city the day before we played and then practice there. Now we don't have to worry about flight delays, or for instance traffic when we get into Philly today.

Again, the Wild spent a lot of time on the power play this morning. Todd Richards urged his team to shoot the puck. "Seam passes" aren't there he explained with how loose the defense plays in front of the net.

The team also practiced shootouts at the end of practice, with two laps each way around the ice as "punishment" for the gray team losing.

Everyone skated during practice but Boogaard (concussion) and Pouliot (groin). That leaves 25 players. Only 20 can play tomorrow, so we'll see who ends up at the airport.

The music was even good in the locker room today (aka no Hannah Montana). Kyle Brodziak was impressed that three weeks in, Josh Harding picked some good music.

It's a little more than a two hour flight to Philly today. We'll have lunch on the plane from a popular Chinese restaurant. And maybe a cheesesteak and Rita's Water Ice for dinner? Or maybe a sandwich from WaWa? Sorry, spent a year in Philly after college.

Talk to everyone after the morning skate Tuesday. More frequent travel updates on our Twitter page ( so sign up now!
