It's been nearly six months since the Wild last played a regular season game at Xcel Energy Center on April 10 against Nashville. Tonight, the 2009-10 home season begins anew, as the Wild hosts the Anaheim Ducks at 8 p.m. (Puck drop will be 8:15). Don't forget, if you hold a ticket to the game, you can enter through Gate 1 as early as 4 p.m. and watch the Twins/Tigers "Game 163" inside Xcel Energy Center. Some concession stands will be open.
I wanted to take a moment to welcome Glen Andresen back into the Wild.com fold. Glen provided content for Wild.com for several years before leaving the organization in December 2007. Now he's back. Glen will do the day-to-day writing for the website, particularly news and features. You can read Glen's Monday practice notebook here
. He'll also be doing some traveling.
However, the R.S.S. Feed will remain. But instead of being a source of mostly news, I'll continue to bring you behind-the-scenes footage and anectdotes. We hope to have some fun with it. I will also continue to update twitter.com/mnwild, so make sure you sign up for that as well. We've been Tweeting some pretty neat pictures from practice, etc. That's the primary source for breaking news. You can feel free, as always, to e-mail me with questions at email@example.com
Today is a long day - longer for those staffers who were here at 5 a.m. for the wake-up rally. The later game gives us an extra hour to make sure everything is ready. The morning skates are the same time - 10:30 for the Wild and 11:30 for the Ducks.
It's a quick turnaround for the Wild, which will leave tomorrow at 2 p.m. for a 10 1/2-day road trip through Southern California, then Northern California, back to SoCal, then Edmonton and Vancouver. It's hard to pack a winter coat when starting a trip in Los Angeles, but the highs in Edmonton have been hovering around the freezing mark lately.
