IOWA WILD 2015-16 RECORD: 8-23-2-3, 21 POINTS

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, split its two games against the Manitoba Moose last week.

The Wild dropped its first contest against the Moose, 4-3 at MTS Centre on Thursday (12/31). D Mike Reilly and F Christoph Bertschy led the team with two assists each. F Jordan Schroeder, D Dylan Labbe and F Grayson Downing tallied a goal apiece. G Jeremy Smith made 29 saves.

Iowa won its second contest against Manitoba with a 4-3 shootout victory on Friday (1/1). F Tyler Graovac, D Maxime Fortunus and F Kurtis Gabriel each scored for the Wild during regulation while Graovac and F Zack Mitchell netted a shootout goal apiece. G Leland Irving stopped 25-of-28 shots through overtime and made both saves in the shootout.

Bertschy leads the Wild with 19 points (4-15=19) in 33 games and ranks T-15th in the AHL in rookie scoring. Reilly ranks second on the team with 18 points (5-13=18) and is fourth in scoring amongst rookie defensemen in the league (T-15th amongst blueliners overall). Downing ranks third on the team with 17 points (10-7=17) while his 10 goals lead the Wild and rank T-7th amongst AHL rookies. Mitchell (10-6=16) and F Michael Keranen (5-11=16) rank T-4th with 16 points. Irving is 5-12-3 with a 2.69 GAA, .915 SV% and one shutout in 21 games and is T-6th in the league with 584 saves, ninth in minutes played (1,206) and 18th in save percentage. Smith is 3-11-2 with a 3.10 GAA and a .909 SV% in 17 games.

The Wild will visit the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday and return home to host Rockford IceHogs on Sunday.

D Tanner Faith - Moose Jaw (WHL): Recorded two assists and four penalty minutes in four games…Ranks second amongst Warriors defensemen in scoring and in assists and third in goals while second on the team in penalty minutes…Has set career highs in assists and points this season, his two goals are tied for his career-best…Serving as an alternate captain this season…Acquired by Moose Jaw from the Kootenay Ice (9/23)…Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Pavel Jenys - Niagara (OHL): The IceDogs went 1-1-0 in its two games last week…Owns five points (1-4=5) in 14 games with Niagara…Traded to the Icedogs (11/23)…Started the season with the Sudbury Wolves, totaling 12 points (4-8=12) and 16 penalty minutes in 24 games…Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Chase Lang - Vancouver (WHL): Tallied three points (1-2=3) and four penalty minutes in three games last week…Has tallied 19 points (8-11=19) since Dec. 1, including a current career-high nine-game point streak…Owns 30 points (11-19=30) with the Giants…Ranks T-9th in the WHL in game-winning goals (4) and leads Vancouver in scoring, T-2nd in goals, second in power-play goals (5) and in assists and is fourth in penalty minutes…Traded to the Vancouver Giants from Calgary (10/27)…Registered seven points (2-5=7) and 20 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Hitmen…Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Avery Peterson - University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCHC): Decided to leave his sophomore season at Nebraska-Omaha due to family reasons (12/14)…He skated in 53 games with the Mavericks over the last two season, totaling 22 points (11-11=22)…Named NCHC Rookie of the Month for January and was named NCHC Rookie of the Week three times during his freshmen season (2014-15)…Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

LW Kirill Kaprizov - Novokuznetsk (KHL): Represented Russia in the WJC as Russia earned the silver medal after a 4-3 overtime loss against Finland (1/5)…He totaled three points (1-2=3) in seven games, including a power-play goal and ranked second on Russia in shots (19)…Leads Novokuznetsk in GWG (4), T-2nd in assists and in scoring and third in goals…Set a career-high three points in a single game with three assists (10/30)…Wild’s fifth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Kaapo Kahkonen - Blues (SM-Liiga): Won the gold medal with Finland at the IIHF World Junior Championships after making 22 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against Russia (1/5)…Went 4-0-0 with a 2.52 GAA and a .909 SV% in seven games, allowing just nine goals on 99 total shots against…He ranked fourth amongst the tourament goalies in GAA and SV%…Ranks second in Liiga amongst rookie goaltenders in SV% (T-8th overall) and in GAA (11th overall)…Recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 27 shots against HPK (9/30)…Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Ales Stezka - Sioux Falls (USHL): Represented Czech Republic at WJC as Czech Republic finished fifth in the tournament…He dressed for all five tournament games and saw his first game action in relief as Czech Republic fell 7-0 to the U.S. in the Quarterfinal round (1/2)…Earned his first career USHL shutout, stopping all 21 shots in Sioux Falls’ 3-0 win vs. Fargo Force (11/27)…Earned his first USHL win, stopping 19-of-22 shots in the Stampede’s 5-3 victory over Sioux City (9/26)…Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
