IOWA WILD 2015-16 RECORD: 9-24-2-3, 23 POINTS



The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, split its two games last week.

The Wild earned a 4-1 victory in the first contest against the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday at BMO Harris Bradley Center (1/9). F Zack Mitchell (2-0=2) and F Grayson Downing (0-2=2) led Iowa with two points each. F Michael Keranen and F Kurtis Gabriel also netted a goal apiece. G Jeremy Smith stopped 24-of-25 shots.

Iowa fell in its second contest against the Rockford IceHogs, 3-1, on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena (1/10). F Jordan Schroeder scored the lone goal for the Wild with an assist from Downing. G Leland Irving made 28 saves.

D Gustav Olofsson (pictured above) was named to the 2016 AHL Western Conference All-Star team last Thursday, becoming the second Iowa player to earn the honors. The AHL All-Star will take place in Syracuse, NY from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1.

Downing (10-10=20) and F Christoph Bertschy (4-16=20) lead the Wild with 20 points apiece. Downing leads the team in goals (T-9th amongst AHL rookies) and ranks T-15th with Bertschy in the league in rookie scoring. Mitchell ranks T-3rd on the Wild with 18 points (12-6=18). Keranen ranks fifth with 17 points (6-11=17). Irving is 5-13-3 with a 2.71 GAA, .915 SV% and one shutout in 22 games and is seventh in the league with 612 saves, 11th in minutes played (1,262) and T-14th in save percentage. Smith is 4-11-2 with a 2.98 GAA and a .911 SV% in 18 game.

The Wild plays three games this week, visiting Chicago Friday before hosting San Jose Saturday and Stockton Sunday.

D Tanner Faith - Moose Jaw (WHL): Moose Jaw went 2-0-0 in two games last week…Ranks second amongst Warriors defensemen in scoring and in assists and T-3rd in goals while third on the team in penalty minutes…Has set career highs in assists and points this season, his two goals are tied for his career-best…Serving as an alternate captain this season…Acquired by Moose Jaw from the Kootenay Ice (9/23)…Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Pavel Jenys - Niagara (OHL): Recorded two penalty minutes and three shots in the IceDogs 3-1 win at Saginaw (1/8)…Owns five points (1-4=5) in 17 games with Niagara…Traded to the Icedogs (11/23)…Started the season with the Sudbury Wolves, totaling 12 points (4-8=12) and 16 penalty minutes in 24 games…Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Chase Lang - Vancouver (WHL): Tallied five points (3-2=5) and six penalty minutes in three games last week…Has tallied 24 points (11-13=24) since Dec. 1, including a current career-high 12-game point streak…Owns 35 points (14-21=35) with the Giants…Ranks T-10th in the WHL in game-winning goals (4) and leads Vancouver in scoring and assists, second in goals and power-play goals (5) and is fourth in penalty minutes…Traded to the Vancouver Giants from Calgary (10/27)…Registered seven points (2-5=7) and 20 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Hitmen…Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Kaapo Kahkonen - Blues (SM-Liiga): Went 1-1-0 in two games last week, stopping a total of 54-of-58 shots…Ranks second in Liiga amongst rookie goaltenders in SV% (seventh overall) and in GAA (10th overall)…Won the gold medal with Finland at the World Junior Championship…Went 4-0-0 with a 2.52 GAA and a .909 SV% in seven games, allowing just nine goals on 99 total shots against and ranked fourth amongst the tournament goalies in GAA and SV%…Recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 27 shots against HPK (9/30)…Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Ales Stezka - Sioux Falls (USHL): Did not play in Sioux Falls two games last week…Represented Czech Republic at WJC, dressing for all five tournament games and saw his first game action in relief as Czech Republic fell 7-0 to the U.S. in the Quarterfinal round (1/2)…Earned his first career USHL shutout, stopping all 21 shots in Sioux Falls’ 3-0 win vs. Fargo Force (11/27)…Earned his first USHL win, stopping 19-of-22 shots in the Stampede’s 5-3 victory over Sioux City (9/26)…Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
