The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, went 2-0-
1 in three games last week.
Iowa won its first contest with a 3-2 overtime
win against Chicago on Thursday at Allstate Arena (2/18). Forward Zack Mitchell
(1-1=2) and defenseman Tyson Strachan (0-2=2) led the Wild with two points each.
Forward Grayson Downing and forward Rob Bordson also netted a goal apiece. Goalie Leland
Irving stopped 23-of-25 shots.
The Wild earned a point in its second contest
with a 2-1 shootout loss against Milwaukee on Sunday at BMO Harris Bradley Center (2/21). Forward Marc Hagel scored the lone goal for Iowa with assists from Strachan and forward Brett Bulmer. Irving made 31 saves through overtime and stopped two-of-three shootout attempts.
Iowa won its third match of the week, 3-2 against Manitoba on Monday at Wells Fargo Arena (2/22). Bulmer (1-1=2) and forward Zac Dalpe (2-0=2) led the Wild with two points apiece. Irving stopped 33- of-35 shots to earn the win.
Mitchell leads Iowa with 32 points (19-13=32) in 54 games this season. He also leads the team and ranks tied for 12th in the AHL in goals. Downing ranks second with 31 points (15-16=31) and ranks tied for 12th in the league in rookie scoring. Forward Christoph Bertschy ranks fourth with 28 points (9-19=28) and ranks tied for 18th among AHL rookies in scoring. Irving is 9-15-4 with a 2.59 GAA, .917 SV% and one shutout in 29 games. Goalie Stephen Michalek is 3-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA and a .945 SV% in four games.
The Wild will play three games this week, hosting Manitoba on Wednesday before traveling to Grand Rapids on Friday and Saturday.
