Iowa Wild starts five-game homestand with overtime win; loss

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild's American Hockey League affiliate, split its series against San Antonio (1-1-0) last week. 

Iowa won the first contest against San Antonio with a 3-2 OT victory at Wells Fargo Arena Thursday (11/2). F Christoph Bertschy (1-1=2) and F Zack Mitchell (0-2=2) led the Wild with two points apiece. F Pat Cannone and D Alex Grant each netted a goal while G Niklas Svedberg stopped 38-of-40 shots through overtime. 

The Wild fell in its second contest against the Rampage, 4-2, in Des Moines Friday (11/3). F Sam Anas and Grant each recorded a goal and F Colton Beck, F Justin Kloos , Mitchell and D Zach Palmquist registered an assist apiece. Svedberg made 18 saves. 

Beck leads the Wild with nine points (6-3=9) in 11 games this season and ranks T-8th in the AHL in goals. Cannone ranks second with seven points (4-3=7) and F Cal O'Reilly (2-4=6) and Kloos (2-4=6) rank T-3rd with six points each. 

D Brennan Menell ranks T-5th on the team with five points (2-3=5) and T-8th amongst AHL rookie defensemen in scoring. 

At the time of his recall on Nov. 8, Svedberg is 3-6-1 with a 2.84 GAA, a .904 SV% and one shutout in 10 games this season and leads league goalies in saves (263) and ranks second in games played and minutes (591). 

Iowa will finish its five-game homestand, hosting Rockford on Thursday and Cleveland on Saturday and Sunday.
