Iowa cliched its first Calder Cup Playoffs berth in franchise history

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild's American Hockey League affiliate, clinched its first Calder Cup Playoffs berth in franchise history and will face Milwaukee in the first round starting Sunday, April 21. Iowa set franchise records in wins, fewest regulation losses, points, goals scored (242), home wins (23), home points (52), power-play percentage (23.8%), power-play goals (69) and shorthanded goals (10). The Wild also ranked second in the AHL in power-play percentage this season and third in PPG.

Iowa also set franchise records for longest home winning streak at five games (10/5-10/27), most wins in the month of October (5) and longest home point streak at eight games (1/19-3/12). Iowa collected 28 points in its first 20 games for its franchise-best start in a single season. The Wild defeated Manitoba, 8-1, on Oct. 7 at Wells Fargo Arena, setting a franchise record for most goals in a single home game and defeated Milwaukee, 6-0, on Nov. 16 in its 200th home game in team history. In one single game, Iowa tied and set four franchise records in its 8-7 victory against Stockton on Dec. 21 for most individual points (Kloos, 6), most goals by the Wild (8), most combined goals by both teams (15) and most power-play goals (Iowa, 4). The Wild shutout Rockford, 3-0, on Jan. 4 to set a franchise record for fewest games needed to reach 20 wins in a single season (35 games). Iowa netted five PPG against San Antonio on March 15 for its most-ever PPG in a single game.

Cal O'Reilly set franchise records for most assists and points in a single season, leading Iowa with 67 points in 67 games. He ranked T-3rd in the AHL in assists and seventh in points. He also set a team record for the longest assist streak, collecting 12 helpers in eight straight games (3/2-3/20). The streak ranked T-4th in the League. Gerald Mayhew ranked second with a career-best 60 points while leading Iowa with 27 goals. Kyle Rau ranked third on the team with 53 points and ranked T-1st in the AHL with a franchise-high 17 PPG. Brennan Menell ranked fourth and led Iowa defensemen with 44 points - the most points by a Wild blueliner in a single season - and ranked second amongst AHL defensemen in assists and T-12th in scoring. He also set a franchise record for five assists in a single game twice this season (3/3 & 3/15). Jordan Greenway, Gerald Mayhew and Rau each recorded hat tricks this season, the most in a single campaign in franchise history. Landon Ferraro was named the 2018-19 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award winner as AHL's Man of the Year.

Andrew Hammond went 19-12-2 with a 2.81 GAA, a .910 SV% and three shutouts in 33 games this season. He was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week on April 15. Kaapo Kahkonen went 17-14-8 with a 2.78 GAA, a .908 SV% and six shutouts in 39 games this season and ranked first amongst League goalies in shutouts. He set a franchise record for longest shutout streak at 222:22. He was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week on Nov. 19 to become fourth player in team history to earn the honors, first since 2016 and was named CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for November to become the first player in team history to receive an AHL monthly award.
