Iowa wins two of three games; Pulkkinen named to AHL All-Star Game

The Iowa Wild went 2-1-0 in three games last week. Iowa fell in its first contest of the week, 6-5 against Grand Rapids on Wednesday at Van Andel Arena (1/4). F Christoph Bertschy (1-1=2) and F Teemu Pulkkinen (1-1=2) led the team with two points each. Forwards Zac Dalpe, Zack Mitchell and Grayson Downing netted a goal apiece. G Alex Stalock stopped 27 of 33 shots. 

The Wild won its second contest with a 4-2 victory against the Moose on Saturday in Manitoba (1/7). Pulkkinen tallied three assists while F Pat Cannone registered two helpers. D Zach Palmquist, D Mike Reilly, F Alex Tuch and Mitchell each scored for Iowa. G Steve Michalek earned the win, making 28 saves. Iowa won its final contest of the week, 3-1 against Manitoba on Saturday at MTS Centre (1/8). Downing (0-2=2) and Bertschy (2-0=2) each notched two points. Cannone also registered a goal while Stalock made 31 of 32 saves.

Pulkkinen was named to the Western Conference All-Star team (1/5), becoming the third player in team history to earn the honors and first forward to do so. Pulkkinen leads Iowa with 26 points (12-14=26) in 27 games this season while also leading the team in goals. Cannone ranks second with 19 points (5-14=19) and Tuch ranks third on the team with 18 points (8-10=18). Stalock is 10-10-2 with a 2.83 GAA, a .904 SV% and two shutouts in 23 games and ranks T-6th amongst league goalies in shutouts, sixth in minutes played (1,273) and T-11th in wins. Michalek is 6-8-1 with a 2.81 GAA and a .915 SV% in 17 games. Iowa finishes its five-game road trip against San Antonio on Friday and Saturday before hosting San Diego on Monday.
