The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild's American Hockey League affiliate, went 2-1-0 in three games last week. The Wild ranks third in the AHL in points, T-4th in shorthanded goals (6), sixth in penalty kill percentage (84.8) and T-6th in wins (20) and in fewest goals allowed (102).
Iowa earned a 3-1 victory in its first contest of the week against Chicago Wednesday at Allstate Arena (1/2). F Matt Read led the team with two goals while F Joel Eriksson Ek also netted a goal. G Andrew Hammond stopped 28-of-29 shots. The Wild took its second contest of the week with a 3-0 shutout win vs. Rockford Friday at Wells Fargo Arena (1/4). F Will Bitten (1-1=2) and F Cal O'Reilly (0-2=2) each tallied two points. F Colton Beck and F Justin Kloos scored a goal apiece. G Kaapo Kahkonen made all 26 saves. Iowa fell in its final contest of the week, 6-2, against the IceHogs Sunday at BMO Harris Bank Center (1/6). Kloos notched two points (1-1=2) and Beck recorded a goal. Hammond stopped 21-of-26 shots.

Kahkonen and O'Reilly will each represent Iowa at the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic Jan. 27-28 at MassMutual Center. Kahkonen and O'Reilly are the fifth and sixth players in franchise history to represent the Wild at the Classic, it will mark Kahkonen's first appearance and O'Reilly's fifth.

Kloos (12-15=27) and O'Reilly (5-22=27) each lead the Wild with 27 points this season. F Mason Shaw ranks third with 21 points (3-18=21) and ranks T-4th amongst AHL rookies in assists. F Kyle Rau ranks fourth with 20 points (8-12=20). Hammond is 9-5-1 with a 2.92 GAA and a .907 SV% in 15 games this season. Kahkonen is 10-4-4 with a 2.28 GAA, a .922 SV% and five shutouts in 18 games and ranks first amongst League goalies in shutouts, second in GAA and fourth in SV%.
