Postgame Notes vs. Washington - March 19

Minnesota fell 3-2 against Washington on Thursday night in front of a sellout crowd of 19,044 at Xcel Energy Center. D Christian Folin and D Jared Spurgeon each tallied a goal for the Wild while G Devan Dubnyk made 24 saves. Next up, Minnesota finishes its two-game homestand hosting St. Louis on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North (locally), NHL Network (nationally) and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota has sold out all 35 home games this season and 66 straight games, including last year’s playoff games. The Wild has points in 24-of-35 (68.6%) games at Xcel Energy Center this season (19-11-5), including eight wins in the last 12 home games.

The Wild has killed 64-of-67 opponent PP chances in its last 25 games, leading the NHL since the All-Star Break with a 95.5% PK rate. The Wild’s 87.2% penalty kill percentage leads the NHL this season, with the Wild posting an NHL-best 90.2% PK rate on home ice.

LW Thomas Vanek tallied the primary assist on Spurgeon’s goal, extending his point streak to a Wild-best six games (4-3=7). He ranks third on the Wild with 46 points (17-29=46) and fourth in assists in his first season with Minnesota.

C Mikael Granlund used two assists on the night to register his 16th career multi-point game – his ninth this season. He has eight points (1-7=8) in his last 10 games and 32 points (7-25=32) in 57 games this season.

LW Zach Parise tallied the primary assist on Folin’s goal. He has nine points (2-7=9) in his last eight games and 25 points (13-12=25) in his last 29 games. He leads Minnesota in goals (27), points, PPG (9) and ranks second in shots (218) this season. His 27 goals rank T-11th amongst all NHL players this year.

D Jared Spurgeon scored the Wild’s second goal of the game. He has four points (2-2=4) in his last six games since returning from an upper-body injury. He has 22 points (9-13=22) in 56 games this season and ranks second on the team with 108 blocked shots.

D Christian Folin netted the Wild’s first goal of the game and his second career NHL goal. He has 10 points (2-8=10) in 39 games this season.

LW Sean Bergenheim skated in his 500th career NHL game. He owns 19 points (9-10=19) in 50 contests between Florida and Minnesota this year.

G Devan Dubnyk played in his 48th game of the season – setting a career high in games played in a single season. He is 21-6-1 with a 1.72 GAA, a .937 SV% and five shutouts in 29 starts with Minnesota. Overall, he ranks second in the NHL in GAA (2.10), T-3rd in SV% (.928) and T-4th in shutouts (6) this season.

LW Alex Ovechkin scored twice while C Evgeny Kuznetsov also netted a goal for Washington. G Braden Holtby made 28 saves.
