Minnesota fell 4-0 to Los Angeles on Wednesday night in front of a sellout crowd of 19,038 at Xcel Energy Center. G Darcy Kuemper started the game, stopping six shots through the first period while G Niklas Backstrom made 12 saves in relief. Minnesota will travel to Dallas tomorrow to face the Stars on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North PLUS and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota outshot Los Angeles, 28-22, and has only been outshot in two games this season. The Wild has totaled a 689-522 advantage through 21 games. Minnesota has outscored its opponents 32-20 to earn its 7-2-0 record in Saint Paul.

Minnesota is 6-4-1 in its last 11 games against Los Angeles with four of the games decided in a shootout. The Wild moves to 10-4-4 against the Kings in the last 18 contests played at Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild killed both of the Kings’ power-play chances and has killed 26-of-29 power-play opportunities combined in the last eight games (89.7%).

D Keith Ballard played in his 600th NHL career game tonight, skating 17:07 with two hits. He becomes the 10th Minnesota-born defensemen to reach 600 games. Since joining the Wild in 2013, he has totaled 10 points (2-8=10), 58 PIM, 68 hits and 53 blocked shots in 55 games.

D Ryan Suter a game-high 28:38 and has led all skaters – Wild and opponents – in TOI in all but two games this season. He leads the NHL in TOI/game and he leads all defensemen on the team in scoring, totaling 11 points (1-10=11) and a plus-12 rating this season.

G Niklas Backstrom is 2-0-0 in four games (two starts) since Nov. 13. G Darcy Kuemper made six saves to earn the loss.

C Mike Richards, RW Dustin Brown, C Tyler Toffoli and RW Justin Williams each scored for Los Angeles. G Martin Jones stopped all 28 shots faced in his first career action against Minnesota.
