On his 22nd birthday, LW Jason Zucker scored just eight seconds into the third period – a Wild record for fastest goal to start any period at Xcel Energy Center. He now has four goals and a plus-6 rating in eight games since being recalled from Iowa (AHL) on Jan. 1.
RW Jason Pominville recorded a goal and an assist for his sixth multi-point game of the season and 120th career. His 19 goals lead the Wild and rank T-17th in the NHL. He ranks second on the Wild with 33 points (19-14=33) in 50 games.
G Darcy Kuemper made his third consecutive start and fifth of the season, making 20 saves. Over his last four starts, he has posted a 0.957SV% and a 1.23 GAA.
C Mikael Granlund tallied the primary assist on Pominville’s goal, earning his 20th point of the season (3-17=20) in 37 games. He has eight points (1-7=8) in 13 games since returning from injury and his 17 assists rank third on the team.
C Kyle Brodziak earned an assist on Fontaine’s goal and has four points (1-3=4) in his last five games. He has 15 points (4-11=15) in 50 games this season and sits at 199 NHL career points.
D Marco Scandella tallied an assist on Pominville’s goal and now has three points (1-2=3) in his last five games. He has 14 points (3-11=14) in 47 games this season.
RW Justin Fontaine scored his 12th goal of the season, T-4th amongst all NHL rookies. He claimed sole possession of third place for most goals by a Wild rookie in a single season. He has 17 points in 43 games this season, including nine points (6-3=9) in his last 12 games.
LW Dany Heatley tallied an assist on Zucker’s goal and now has five points (1-4=5) and a plus-4 rating in his last four games.
The Wild has scored at least one third-period goal in 17 straight wins, dating back to a 2-1 shootout win versus Toronto on Nov. 13.
