Post-Game Notes vs. Phoenix - Dec. 31

RW Radim Vrbata scored twice in a span of 2:01 early in the third period, lifting the Phoenix Coyotes over the Minnesota Wild 4-2 in front of 19,297 – the largest crowd this season and the sixth-largest regular-season crowd ever at Xcel Energy Center. G Niklas Backstrom made 26 saves, C Matt Cullen scored a penalty shot goal and added an assist, and RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored his 98th career goal for Minnesota, which begins a two-game road trip Wednesday in Vancouver.

 
RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored his ninth goal of the season and 98th of his career, moving him past Brian Rolston and into sole possession of fourth place on the team’s all-time list. Bouchard has four goals in his last six games.
 
C Matt Cullen scored on a third-period penalty shot. Wild skaters are now 14-for-25 all-time on penalty shots. It marked Cullen’s 10th goal of the season – second in 21 games. Cullen had two points (1-1=2) for the first time since a three-assist outing at Anaheim on Dec. 4.
      
The Wild has played eight home games on New Year’s Eve, including every season since the lockout, going 5-4-0.
 
Coyotes C Daymond Langkow scored his 19th goal in 45 career games against the Wild. He’s tied for third all-time in goals versus Minnesota.
