Plays Of The Week: Feb. 8

by Evan Sporer / Minnesota Wild

It’s time once again for Wild fans to decide the DQ Bakes Play of the Week based on three of the best efforts provided by Wild players from recent games. Voting ends Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

The winning vote getter for the week of Jan. 25 was “Coyle's Corral.” On Jan. 21, Charlie Coyle shined bright under the Hollywood lights, taking a hail-mary pass from Marco Scandella and scoring on the breakaway against Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.

This week’s nominees are:

Coyle Backhand Strength (Feb. 2, 2016 at NYI)
Charlie Coyle
put the Wild ahead in the first period with a good individual effort against the New York Islanders. After waiting for a pass at the offensive blue line, Coyle spun around defenseman Scott Mayfield, muscled his way toward the crease, and snucks a backhand shot past Jean-Francous Berube.

Carts Block & Breakaway (Feb. 4, 2016 at NYR)
In a building where he has scored big goals before, Ryan Carter did so again against the Rangers. In the world's most famous arena, Coyle blocked a Marc Staal shot in his own zone, then took off and went the distance before roofing a puck on the breakaway past Henrik Lunqdvist.

Dubnyk Blind Pad (Feb. 4, 2016 at NYR)
It was a busy second period for Devan Dubnyk against the Rangers, making 15 saves in all, perhaps none more impressive than one on Dan Girardi. After Kevin Hayes deflected a point shot toward the right side of the slot, Girardi found it on his stick with some daylight, but shut it down, flexing his right pad out to meet the shot.
