Park Smart On Friday

by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild
With the Minnesota Wild's Friday home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at a special 1:00 PM start time, fans are encouraged to Park Smart when attending the game. With the game coinciding with the Hmong New Year celebration at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, patrons should allow extra time and use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion and parking problems.

Heavier traffic is expected due to more than 30,000 people throughout the weekend, which also inlcudes the Wells Fargo WinterSkate Opening and Rice Park Official Tree Lighting on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.

As a friendly reminder, residential neighborhoods near the Xcel Energy Center are permit-only parking and cars without a permit will be ticketed and possibly towed.

Round-trip shuttle service will be available Friday - Sunday from 8 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. for anyone attending events at Xcel Energy Center or Saint Paul RiverCentre. The shuttle pick-up will be at the Alright Central parking lot located at 390 East Kellogg Blvd. in downtown Saint Paul. Shuttle drop-off will be at Saint Paul RiverCentre on Kellogg Blvd.

For more information on parking in downtown Saint Paul, patrons should refer to http://www.xcelenergycenter.com/parking/ or www.rivercentre.org to find Park Smart! Maps, designed to offer alternate routes to the most convenient parking structures for events in Saint Paul.

The Xcel Energy Center and adjacent Saint Paul RiverCentre are located at the intersection of Kellogg Boulevard and West 7th Street in downtown Saint Paul. Both buildings are serviced by two parking ramps (RiverCentre and Kellogg) directly connected to the complex. Saint Paul RiverCentre and Kellogg ramps fill up early and alternate plans should be made for entering the city, as well as finding parking during events. There are more than 50 parking ramps/lots within a brief walk to the facility.
