ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed restricted free-agent defenseman Zach Palmquist to a one-year, two-way contract ($726,000/$70,000).

Palmquist, 26 (12/9/90), totaled 21 points (2-19=21) and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 72 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2016-17, leading team defensemen in games played, ranking second in assists and third in scoring. The 6-foot, 187-pound native of South Saint Paul, Minn., has totaled 35 points (6-29=35) and 50 PIM in 149 games during parts of three seasons with Iowa (2014-17). The blueliner totaled 96 points (25-71=96) in 160 games during four seasons (2011-15) with the Minnesota State Mavericks, never missing a game during his collegiate career to set a school record for consecutive games played. Palmquist was named to the WCHA First All-Star Team in 2015 and 2014 and to the 2015 NCAA West Second All-American Team. He played at South Saint Paul High School and was a finalist for the 2009 Mr. Hockey Award. Palmquist originally signed with Minnesota as a free agent on March 30, 2015.
