by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Nathan Smith to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild also placed center Andrew Ebbett on injured reserve.

Smith, 27 (2/9/82), has played in nine games this season for Minnesota, registering 12 penalty minutes and averaging 7:50 in ice time. At the time of his recall Dec. 9, Smith ranked sixth on the Aeros’ roster in scoring with nine points (3-6=9) to go along with 43 PIM in 21 games. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was Vancouver’s first-round selection (No. 23 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Smith was signed by the Wild as a free agent July 22.

Ebbett, 26 (1/2/83), has scored three goals in seven games with the Wild since being acquired on waivers from Chicago on Nov. 21. Ebbett suffered a concussion Dec. 7 in Phoenix.
