With Thanksgiving feasts completed, Movember is coming to a close, but not before celebrating Josh Iskierka on the evening of Nov. 28 as the top fundraiser for this year’s efforts to raise funds and awareness for mean’s health.
Iskierka raised more than $3,000 for the Movember Foundation, on behalf of the Minnesota Wild and has been rewarded with tickets for the game against the Dallas Stars at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday night.
On Nov. 3 Paul Allen of KFAN (Team KFAN) and Kevin Gorg of FOX Sports North (Team FSN), held a live draft of Wild players, the Minnesota Wild mascot, Nordy, and Sasquatch from Jack Link’s to compete to see who could grow the best mustaches and raise the most money during the month. Co-captains for Movember from the Wild are Ryan Carter for Team KFAN and Matt Dumba for Team FSN.
For his efforts, Iskierka, who joined Team FSN on the Movember fundraising site, has also earned the opportunity to announce “Let’s Play Hockey” before the game, and meet with teammates Matt Dumba, Kevin Gorg and Nordy of Team FSN after the contest Saturday night. Sasquatch will also be there as the winning team is presented with the inaugural Jack Link’s Jerky Cup after the game. This cup was made out of real Jack Link’s products to recognize the outstanding achievements of the winning team.
Josh, taking part in Movember fundraising for the seventh straight year, raised more than $3,000 for Team FSN in November – the same month he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that also spread to his lymph nodes. Though he had surgery on Nov. 12 to remove multiple lymph nodes from his neck, Saturday night he’ll still ring loud and proud for “Let’s Play Hockey.”
The Wild would like to thank all of the participants and those who donated to the cause this year, as well as partners Jack Link’s, KFAN radio, FOX Sports North and the Movember Foundation – and if you have special thoughts for Iskierka let him know with a message on his fundraising page.
And with the final three days of the month at hand, please use these three Movember “fight” posters as a final bit of inspiration to contribute this year and start your strategy ahead of time for 2016.
