Wild, local pro sports organizations team up for Action Day 2018

Thirty-five Minnesota Wild staff members joined thousands of local fans for Thursday afternoon's Greater Twin Cities United Way Action Day 2018 at Target Center.

More than 2,500 participants loaded school supplies into 25,000 backpacks, which will be distributed to Twin Cities nonprofits and donated to children in need ahead of the school year. The Wild, Timberwolves, Lynx, Twins, Vikings, Minnesota United FC and St. Paul Saints partnered with FOX Sports North and several other sponsors to organize and promote the event.

Minnesota's professional basketball teams served as this year's hosts. The Wild will host Action Day 2019, and Thursday's event included a ceremonial backpack hand-off from Timberwolves and Lynx CEO Ethan Casson to Wild president Matt Majka.
