SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.
-- The Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL) will honor Dallas Stars All-Star forward Mike Modano for his overall contributions to United States hockey prior to this Thursday’s game against the Dallas Stars at 7 p.m. Earlier this season, Modano became the all-time leading scorer among American-born players -- passing South St. Paul native Phil Housley.
Modano will be available to the media following the Stars’ 11:30 a.m. pre-game skate Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
Special guests for the pre-game ceremony will include Housley, Brad Bombardir and former Minnesota North Stars Player, Coach and General Manager Lou Nanne. The ceremony will immediately follow the National Anthem. The Wild will also present Modano with Minnesota artist Terrence Fogarty’s “Met Center Memories.”
The MSE Community Giving Fund will make a donation to the Mike Modano Foundation
. Also, Wild fans will have the opportunity to bid on several Mike Modano items, including an autographed North Stars jersey and an autographed, game-used stick, with funds going to the Modano Foundation. The Mike Modano Foundation raises awareness and funding for organizations offering education and assistance to children and families affected by child abuse.
