Bemidji Mens Hockey

In preparation for Hockey Day Minnesota 2019 presented by Wells Fargo, Wild.com will highlight each of the nine teams participating in this year's festivities starting in Bemidji. Today, we take a look at the Bemidji High School girls hockey team.

The town

Bordering the northernmost lake feeding into the Mississippi River, Bemidji was deemed the "The First City on The Mississippi." Standing at 18 feet tall, the city's famed Paul Bunyan statue has become a tourist bucket list item. It is said it took over 737 man-hours to create the beloved statue in honor of the American folklore legend and his sidekick, Babe the Blue Ox.

The team

The Beavers, who call the Sanford Center home, took the ice for the first time in 1947. In its 61 seasons, Bemidji State has complied a 1,085-610-131 overall record and has been a member of the NCAA for 18 seasons. Currently, the Beavers are 10-11-3, with notable wins against conference foes Minnesota State and Bowling Green.
