Kuemper To Start In Toronto

by Mike Doyle / Minnesota Wild

Darcy Kuemper
will get his first start of the season tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Speaking to the media this afternoon, Wild Head Coach Mike Yeo said that he's earned the start with a strong training camp and wants to see what the young netminder can do in game action. Yeo's full pregame interview is on WildTV.

Harding appeared in the last four game and started the previous three. With the season still early, Yeo doesn't want to burn the goaltender out in back-to-back games with a long travel day tomorrow and two more games on the road trip upcoming after tonight.

Marco Scandella and Nate Prosser will also be in the lineup tonight. For Prosser, it is his first appearance of the season and Yeo anticipates he'll be excited for the chance to get into the lineup. Scandella is in for the first time in three games and Yeo said that he planned on using the 23-year-old tonight before the start of the road trip.

Keith Ballard, who took a puck to the face in the third period during last night's 2-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres, will be out of the lineup tonight. He didn't return to the contest, but Yeo said that he is only out as a precautionary measure.

The game will broadcast locally on FOX Sports North with start time of 6 p.m. Follow the action at @mnwildLIVE.
