Kip Moore’s sophomore album, “Wild Ones,” was released a few weeks ago and Wild.com noticed the country singer’s song titles seemed to have some Minnesota Wild ties.
1. “Wild Ones”
Do we really need to explain this one? It’s very cool of Kip Moore to write an entire song about the Minnesota Wild. We’ll narrow it down to see which two Wild players this song could be about.
It’s no secret that Jason Zucker and Charlie Coyle are good friends on and off the ice. So much so, that @mnwild nicknamed the duo “Zoyle” during a Christmas Sweater photoshoot. That’s Wild.
2. “Come and Get It”
Nino Niederreiter led the Wild with 155 hits last season. Watch out for the 6’2”, 210 pound, Swiss native when he’s on the ice — he’s not afraid to throw his weight around.
3. “Girl of Summer”
You may recall Nordy showing around his friend Madonna from the Saint Paul Saints earlier this summer. This duo gets to hang out during the summer since Nordy is busy during the winter and hockey season.
Most Wild fans will remember January 15, 2015 very well. It was the day Minnesota acquired goaltender, Devan Dubnyk from the Arizona Coyotes. In 39 games, Dubnyk went 27-9-2. Simply put, he was magic.
5. “That Was Us”
Three summers ago Ryan Suter and Zach Parise joined Mikko Koivu as seasoned veterans in the State Of Hockey. Less than a year later, Jason Pominville became part of the team. But now, with 13 players on the roster under the age of 30, the veterans have some seasoned young players to help carry the weight of the team.
You may have heard of the most photogenic marathon runner. Well Nate Prosser is the most photogenic Wild player. No, seriously, he is always smiling.
He smiles so much he could sell lipstick without even having to put it on.
7. “What Ya Got on Tonight”
Fans are clamoring to see the Alumni Game jerseys and Stadium Series jerseys for the Wild. Well, quite the stir was caused on Twitter when an account unveiled a mockup of what it thought could be the Alumni Game jersey. Alas, this was not the real McCoy. The jerseys will be unveiled later this year.
8. “Heart’s Desire”
Need we say more?
It’s a little bit complicated when it comes to Mike Reilly. Originally a Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick, signed with the Wild on July 1st after his draft rights expired. Whether he makes the Opening Night roster or not, is yet to be seen.
10. “I’m to Blame
11. “That’s Alright With Me”
Last season Ryan Suter led the entire NHL with 29:03 TOI per game. He's led the league in TOI/game for the last three seasons.
12. “Running for You”
Jordan Schroeder’s speed game is strong enough to earn him a roster spot against quick teams, so naturally Running For You must be about the Lakeville native.
13. “Comeback Kid”
Matt Dumba made the Wild’s opening night roster last season, but was re-assigned to the club’s AHL affiliate in Iowa at the end of November.
He participated in the AHL All-Star game in January. Soon after that, Dumba began seeing regular time on the blue line.
