COLORADO COACH JOEL QUENNEVILLE
Friday, December 23, 2005 versus Minnesota
Came out to a quick start. Were you happy with the way things were going for the first and second periods?
“Well, I thought we had a good first period, and just like last night our second period was effective. We got a big goal to make it two to two. We were right there. It was that four on four that made a big difference. That shifted it with the two goals, and then we had that chance at the end.”
You put Joel (Joe Sakic), and Alex (Alex Tanguay), and Milan (Milan Hejduk) back together. Were you looking for a spark in the third?
“Well, we changed the lines a bit. We were just looking to create a little bit more offensively. We had some really good shifts, except for that four on four.”
Did you like your chances after the five on three?
“That was a big kill. We really got some energy coming off of that. We really had to step up after that with the necessary response. Then things turned, and they changed, and they scored.”
You guys had to gamble a little bit on offense. Did you feel like you were under siege a little bit?
“When we got to two to one, that third goal, I should have stopped it. Then we have to gamble to play forward. We took chances and they scored a goal. I’m not happy, I’m not satisfied, especially since we should have won this game. Now we’re just going to have to forget about it and come back with a much better game. It’s tough to put two good games together. Every game is different, but we need to find a way to get on a winning streak.”
