MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE QUOTES
Tuesday, February 07, 2006 versus Los Angeles
Do you like the fact that your big players are playing big right now?
“Yeah, we were talking after the game. All our top players, they were involved and played a great game. Starting with Gaborik (Marian), and Rolston (Brian), and White (Todd), and Kubie (Filip Kuba), and Mitchell (Willie), and our defensemen were exceptional tonight. They moved the puck well, they were strong on the puck, the battles along the boards, we came up most of the time with the puck. This is a team (Los Angeles), when they get the puck from the defensemen in our end along the wall, they manage to get scoring chances out of that. And tonight they didn’t get a lot because we were strong on the puck.”
Dupuis (Pascal) has worked hard, and that really helps tonight.
“I think that changed with him when he went out on the first power-play and he scored, then I can see the difference. Then he started to go with more confidence. He was skating a lot better, and going more thick on the ice. Sometimes a goal does it, and I’m glad for him because I know he can play better than he was.”
All these power-plays must have been nice.
“Yeah, we played real well. I’m sure LA would like to take this back. I’m sure they’re not happy with their play but, they’re still a good team, and they’re still a team you have to watch out for, especially in the power-play and stuff like that. Special teams were really important tonight. I thought we killed penalties as well as we played. You know the last time we were on the power-play with those guys, I think we were 0 for five and had some troubles. But tonight we got huge goals on the power plays and they didn’t get much on their side…… Any time you get me a lead like this, I got to make a couple saves, it’s huge. The teams been playing really confident, and any time you score five or six goals, you should get the win.”
