MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE QUOTES

Monday, December 19, 2005 versus Dallas

It looks like you figured out how to win these one goal games.

“Well, I don’t know if it’s going to last.  We’re pretty pleased with the last two games.  You know we’re getting good chances.  I know they came close to tie it because of the penalties.  They could have tied it but our penalty killing has been very successful for a while.  So we’re pleased with that.”

What was the mood like after the second period?

“The guys were excited, more so than usually.  It could be because it’s Dallas.  You know, just the way the guys were talking, they knew they could play better, they knew if we got a goal we’d have a chance to win.  The guys were talking about that.  I guess we needed the break to get started.”

Big two points, beating Montreal the other night and then you come out and beat a really good road club in the Dallas Stars.

“It was a great big play for us.  We played hard, the whole game we talked about their game.  They’ve been playing great on the road.  We talked about putting some pucks on them and getting some rebounds.  We came back strong in the third period, and the two points are great.”

What do you think about playing on Turco.  What are you looking for?

“It was a perfect pass by Rollie (Brian Rolston) there.  I just tried to get some speed there and I’ve been shooting and getting good plays on most plays and I got in front of the net.  It worked out well.  We haven’t won two games in a long time, so this will be a boost of confidence for us to go on the road.”

When did you get word that you were on the team?

“After the last game…. It’s an honor to represent your country.  I’m sure it’s going to be very special.  Hopefully we can go over there and win the gold medal.  The last time I was there, I was proud that we won the silver medal.  I’m looking forward to the experience.”
