Daemon Hunt CMS

ST. PAUL -- With the third pick in the third round (65th overall), the Wild selected defenseman Daemon Hunt from Moose Jaw of the Western Hockey League.
Minnesota acquired this pick from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for the 70th and 132nd selections in this year's draft.

Here is a look at Hunt's stats:
Height: 6-0
Weight: 198 pounds
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Brandon, Manitoba
2019-20 team: Moose Jaw of the Western Hockey League
NHL Central Scouting rank: 25th among North American skaters
NHL.com scouting report: A strong skater who uses different speeds to be effective. Defends well. Quick to create odd-man rushes. Will step up in all areas when finishing checks. More of a playmaking defenseman than a finisher. Good intangibles.
FC Hockey scouting report: An effective two-way defenseman, his powerful core is on display through his skating. He has strength and flow in any direction and his solid footwork, not at its peak yet, has extensive mobility and can keep pace with any player on the ice. A big body defensively who can seek the big hit but instead uses good body possession to stand up opponents and inserts himself in lanes, showcasing remarkable poise and thought processes. His strong instincts without the puck makes it difficult for the opposition to get set in the offensive zone. He reads the play well and jumps routes without giving up his positional advantage. He shows physicality in front of the net and boxes out his mark. He brings a combination of sandpaper and skating ability to the table when defending and could edge well to maintain gaps and shift direction to keep his opponents on the outside. He also has an active stick and always has it positioned in the right spot to disrupt possession.
On Hunt: "Daemon is a hard-nosed two-way defender with excellent mobility and has strong leadership skills," said Judd Brackett, the Wild's Director of Amateur Scouting.
