SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Hockey League's (NHL) Minnesota Wild today announced the team will host its second annual Hockey Talks program on Wednesday, February 15 when it hosts the Colorado Avalanche at 8:30 p.m.

Hockey Talks is a program that was inspired by Rick Rypien, former Vancouver Canucks forward, who tragically lost his battle with mental health issues in 2011. Minnesota is one of several NHL teams that are encouraging conversations about mental health and are sharing support and information from leading experts in the hopes of alleviating the misconceptions and stigma associated with mental illness.
Fans can purchase a special
Hockey Talks ticket package
to the February 15 game. The ticket package includes admission to a pregame seminar at the Saint Paul RiverCentre from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. that will feature guest speaker P.J. Fleck, head coach of the University of Minnesota football team. Proceeds from the Hockey Talks ticket package will benefit
The Ranch Teammates For Life
. Located in Sauk Centre, The Ranch's objective is to specifically serve hockey players, veterans, first responders, and family members to love and build up those who suffer from mental illness.
P.J. Fleck began his tenure with the University of Minnesota in 2017 after spending four seasons as the Head Coach for Western Michigan University. Prior to his coaching career, Fleck, a former wide receiver, spent one season with the San Francisco 49ers where he openly talks about the mental health struggles he battled with during his lone season in the NFL. Fleck now uses his personal experience with mental health struggles to help his players at the University of Minnesota by holding weekly check-in meetings to discuss how they are doing off the field.
