The Minnesota Wild, in partnership with FOX Sports North, Wells Fargo, the University of Minnesota, the Moorhead Youth Hockey Organization, the Houston Aeros and Minnesota Hockey, announced a Food Drive will be held in conjunction with the fifth annual Hockey Day Minnesota 2011. Donations will benefit Second Harvest Heartland
and Great Plains Food Bank
Donations are already being accepted at all Wells Fargo stores in the Fargo/Moorhead area. The Food Drive will continue on Saturday, Feb. 12 at all Hockey Day Minnesota locations and into Sunday, Feb. 13, when the Houston Aeros take on the Peoria Rivermen at Xcel Energy Center at 1 p.m.
On Hockey Day, fans can make monetary or non-perishable food item donations as they enter each Hockey Day Minnesota venue. Fans donating a minimum of $5 or five non-perishable food items at the Moorhead Youth Hockey Outdoor Arena or Xcel Energy Center will receive a buy-one-get-one free ticket voucher to a future Minnesota Wild game during the 2010-11 season.

Hockey Day Minnesota 2011, televised on FOX Sports North and presented by Wells Fargo, is a day dedicated to the game of hockey and Minnesota’s rich history around the sport. It will feature a full day of hockey-related programming on FOX Sports North designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The city of Moorhead, Minnesota will serve as the background for the high school games featured in the Hockey Day Minnesota 2011 lineup.
Hockey Day Minnesota will also include the Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues game at 8 p.m. from Xcel Energy Center, preceded by the University of Minnesota Men’s Hockey team taking on the Denver Pioneers at 5 p.m. A complete list of games and programming can be found here
To celebrate the 10th anniversary season of the Minnesota Wild and Xcel Energy Center, the team’s employees are organizing one initiative each month for 10 months to give back to the community that has supported them for the past decade. The Food Drive is the focus for the month of February.
