HDM Totals For Jack Jablonski Fund

by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo have announced that fundraising, including a telethon and online auction, that was a part of the sixth annual Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on Saturday, Jan. 21, raised $134,045.13 for the Jack Jablonski Trust Fund. HDM was dedicated to the Jablonski family, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s hockey player who suffered a spinal cord injury in a game last month.

In a posting Sunday on the Caring Bridge site for Jack, the family expressed their gratitude.  “We are overwhelmed by the response to yesterday's Hockey Day Minnesota. Thank you to each and every one of you who made a donation to the Jack Jablonski Fund and to those who donated time, talent and resources to help with the cause.”

The Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo combined to host an all-day telethon as part of Hockey Day Minnesota, raising money for the Jack Jablonski Trust Fund, which is set up through Wells Fargo. Volunteers from the Benilde-St. Margaret’s School RED KNIGHT VOLUNTEER CORPS assisted with operating the phone bank.

In addition, there was an online auction including Wild-related “experiences” such as lunch with General Manager Chuck Fletcher and Head Coach Mike Yeo, or a special night in the “Elite Seats” on the glass between the team benches, with proceeds going to the Jablonski family. The top totals went to a Day at the Xcel Energy Center ($5,800) and a 16-person suite donated by Dany Heatley, including a visit with Heatley after the game ($4,550).

Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on FOX Sports North, presented by Wells Fargo, included over 16 hours of consecutive hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The day included three high school games, a Minnesota Golden Gopher game, a Wild game versus Dallas, as well as the debut of an exclusive feature with Jack Jablonski. Hockey Day Minnesota 2013 will take place in Grand Rapids.
