Dubnyk 10.6.18

Wild.com's Dan Myers gives three takeaways from the Wild's 2-1 overtime loss against the Vegas Golden Knights at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday night:

1. The Golden Knights' Erik Haula scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Golden Knights an extra point.
Minnesota scored nine minutes into the game then couldn't score again in regulation, overtime or the shootout.
Still, the Wild was primed to earn the win, carrying a one-goal lead until the dying minutes of the game, when Max Pacioretty scored the tying goal with 1:31 left and the extra attacker on for Vegas.
Zach Parise, Jason Zucker and Mikko Koivu couldn't connect on shootout tries and neither could Vegas, until Haula slid a shot through Devan Dubnyk's five hole.
2. The Wild remains unbeaten in regulation in home openers.
Minnesota's record of 14-0-4 all time in first home games is a points percentage that ranks as the best in NHL history.
After posting at least one point in 35 of 41 home games last season, the Wild got off to a good start in that regard, as well.

Minnesota also moved to 3-0-1 against Vegas, and is one of just two teams the expansion club hasn't defeated in regulation (Islanders) since beginning play last season.
3. Minnesota goaltender Devan Dubnyk was again sensational.
Forty-eight hours removed from a big effort in Denver in the Wild's season opener, Dubnyk picked up where he left off on the home sheet Saturday, stopping eight shots in the first and 16 more in the second en route to a 41-save performance.
Dubnyk made 38 saves against the Avalanche, allowing just two goals, but was the unlucky loser in that one. He was a big reason why the Wild earned a point on Saturday and will likely look for his -- and Minnesota's -- first win of 2018-19 when Chicago visits Xcel Energy Center on Thursday.
