COLUMBUS COACH GERALD GALLANT QUOTES
Wednesday, November 30, 2005 versus Minnesota
Sergei (Fedorov) said winning a shootout is kind of like winning the lottery. Do you feel like you won the lottery tonight?
“Yeah definitely. It’s a big two points for us. We need the points obviously, and Minnesota battled back from the two goal lead in the first, and then it was an exciting overtime. We had two power plays and we couldn’t score. I think it was meant to be for us to win tonight. “
Are you a fan of the shootout?
“I am so far. We’re two and zero in the shootout so it’s been good for us. I think it’s pretty exciting, and you get a final to the game. I enjoy them, I think the fans love it.”
Did you pick up anything in the shootout, like a move on the goaltender?
“I think their goalie played very good in the shootout and in overtime. I just wanted a simple play, and I shot it on the net and scored the goal.”
You guys had two power plays in the overtime. Did that get you energized for the shootout?
“Ah yeah, the second power play we didn’t play so good but the first one was ok. We had a couple of scoring chances, but we didn’t score in the overtime. But we did in the shootout and won the game.”
Does it feel good to contribute?
“I think we played a very good team, and we won our second straight game. We’re playing very good and now we’re getting ready for St. Louis.”
