Four Minnesota Wild prospects were named to 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship camps on Monday.
Louis Belpedio (United States), Joel Eriksson Ek (Sweden), Kaapo Kahkonen (Finland), and Ales Stezka (Czech Republic) all received invitations for the preliminary evaluation portion of the tournament.
This 2016 World Junior Championship will be held in Helsinki, Finland. The tournament begins on December 26, and runs through January 5.
Belpedio, a defenseman, was drafted by the Wild in the third round in 2014. He currently plays at the University of Miami (Ohio), and has two goals and eight assists in 16 games this season.
Eriksson Ek, the Wild's first round pick in the 2015 Draft (20th overall), plays for Farjestads BK Karlstad in the Swedish League. In 21 games this season, the 18-year-old forward has three goals and five assists.
Kahkonen was a fourth round selection by the Wild in the fourth round of the 2014 Draft. He currently plays for Blues in the Finnish Elite League. The goalie has appeared in 14 games this season and has a 4-6-4 record with a .920 save-percenteage.
Steska, another goalie, was drafted by the Wild in the fourth round in 2015. He plays in the USHL for the Sioux Falls Stampede, and has a 6-5-0 record this season with an .896 save-percentage.
