Since joining the Minnesota Wild, Nino Niederreiter has recorded 38 goals, 35 assists and 73 points in 161 regular season games. On Nov. 13, a storm front passed through Xcel Energy Center when Niederreiter tallied his first National Hockey League hat trick against the Buffalo Sabres.
Patience paid off for the Swiss native when Charlie Coyle drew two defensemen over to create space for Niederreiter to kick the puck to his stick and then tap home his first of the night from on the goal line. Next, Niederreiter's second goal of the game came on the power play when he tipped a shot from the low slot past Jhonas Entroth.
Then finally with just under two and a half minutes remaining in the game, Niederreiter and Coyle broke free for a two-on-one. Coyle fed the puck to Niederreiter, who completed the hat trick with an enmpty-net goal.
