Fantasy Pick: Cal ClutterbuckCal Clutterbuck
might be a physical player who's once again leading the NHL in hits this year, but he's also an offensive stud who's lit the lamp more than any other Wild player this season.
Just over halfway through the regular season, Clutter has already matched his career high with 13 goals on the year. After totaling 19 points (13-6=19) in 42 games this season, he's just two points shy of topping his career high of 21 (13-8=21) set in 2009-10.
Perhaps most impressive about Cal's offensive outburst this season is that fact that he hasn't lost "his" game: checking and creating energy on the Wild bench. Clutter ranks first in the NHL with 204 hits, more than 40 ahead of his nearest competitor, Dustin Brown of the LA Kings. Totals of eight, nine or even 10 hits seem to be just another day at the office for Cal, after leading the League each of the past two seasons. In fact, he's currently on pace to break his NHL record of 356 hits, which he set in 2008-09.
Adding to the excitement for tonight's game is the fact that Clutterbuck will have extra motivation against tonight's opponent, the Colorado Avalanche. Clutter went off after the last match up between the teams and seems to be looking forward to the reunion.
