Fantasy Spotlight: Brent Burns
Wild defenseman Brent Burns was already recognized by the NHL this season when he was selected as an All-Star in February. Now, Burns is getting closer to making his mark on the Wild record books in his impressive offensive season.
Burns has already established a new career high and a franchise record for most goals by a defenseman in a single season with 16 this year. Now, he is just one point shy from setting a new Wild single-season record for points by a defenseman. He set the previous record of 43 in 2007-08, which was matched by Marek Zidlicky last season.
The 26-year-old leads all Wild blueliners and ranks T-9th among NHL defensemen with 43 points (16-27=43) on the year, while his 16 markers make him 2nd among NHL defensemen in goals.
Going into Saturday's game against Columbus, Burns is tied for the Wild lead with three points (3-0=3) against the Blue Jackets this year. The Ontario native has netted eight points (2-6=8) in the past 11 games and 12 points (2-10=12) in the past 19 matches.
