Fantasy Spotlight: Martin Havlat
Minnesota Wild winger Martin Havlat has carried the team's offense much of the season, and he seems to have stepped up even more with the injuries to his teammates. It would almost be laughable - if we weren't so busy cheering - how clutch Marty has become in breakaway situations or driving to the net.
Havlat's desire to win is clear on the ice, and off of it, he refuses to acknowledge his individual success this season, referring only to the importance of earning a win. But here on Wild Fantasy Spotlight, we're of the opinion that both individual and team performance can be highly valued.
Marty is tied with Kyle Brodziak
for the team lead during the Wild's current hot streak. Havlat has 18 points (10-8=18) during Minnesota's 13-7-1 stretch. The Wild is also 13-2-3 when he tallies a goal and 24-13-3 when he notches a point.
Going into tonight's game against Buffalo, Marty's on a hot streak in St. Paul, where he's scored a goal in each of the past four home games. He leads the Wild in goals, assists and points (20-36=56) this season. Havlat has already claimed the sixth 20-goal season of his career and is now just one tally shy of reaching 300 assists in his career.
