Fantasy Spotlight: MIN at NJ

by Carly Peters / Minnesota Wild

Fantasy Pick: Brent Burns

Wild defenseman Brent Burns might be one of the best at shutting down opposing players, but he's also one of the best at notching points for the Wild. Burns played a major part in the Wild's thrilling, come-from-behind win against Phoenix Sunday, notching a goal and two assists. The impressive offensive performance seems to be par for the course for Burns during what will surely be a career-best season.

Burns leads the Wild and ranks second among all NHL bluelines with 12 goals on the year. Overall, he ranks third on the team and leads all Wild defensemen with 26 points (12-14=26) in 36 games. Not only is Burns well on his way to breaking his career high of 43 points (15-28=43) in 82 games set in 2007-08, but he is only three goals shy of tying the Wild franchise record for most goals by a Wild defensemen in a single season, which he also set in 2007-08.

Burns looks to continue his hot play tonight in New Jersey, having totaled five points (2-3=5) in his past three games.
