Fantasy Pick: Pierre-Marc Bouchard
When the news was broke that Pierre-Marc Bouchard
was ready to return to the Wild lineup after missing 104 straight and 112 of the last 113 games as the result of a concussion, Wild players, coaches and fans were excited. After his first two games back in a Wild sweater, everyone has to be ecstatic.
Butch skated off some rust in his first few shifts against the Coyotes Wednesday and quickly became one of the top Wild players on the ice. He moved from the fourth to the second line throughout the game. It was expected that he'd skate around 10 minutes, but his stellar play warranted 14:05 TOI.
After such a great performance in his first game back, everyone wondered how Butch would play in his second game. Would his head feel OK after taking some hits? Would his body be able to recover after playing at the pace of a NHL game? Once again, Bouchard put all the questions to rest with his inspired performance on the ice Friday against the Flames.
Butch netted his first goal since March 10, 2009, yesterday, his 78th career goal with the Wild. He skated 14:47, was a +1 and registered three shots on net. Plus, he was creating chances left and right. The line of Bouchard-Brodziak-Havlat was downright electrifying all night long.
It might be hard to imagine that Bouchard could keep this level of play going, but it seems completely possible when you realize how long he waited to get back on the ice. He's enjoying finally getting to play hockey again and it doesn't seem he'll be slowing down anytime soon.
