Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk was named the National Hockey League’s Third Star last Monday. Well, he improved on that standing and was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week ending Feb. 8.
Devan Dubnyk stopped all 42 shots faced last week to go 2-0-0 with a 0.00 GAA, 1.00 SV% and two shutouts to help Minnesota increase its winning streak to a season-best five games. He made 24 saves in a 3-0 win vs. Chicago (2/3) and 18 saves in a 1-0 win vs. Colorado (2/7) to improve his record to 7-1-0 with a 1.31 GAA, a .948 SV% and four shutouts in nine games with Minnesota since his acquisition on Jan. 15. According to Elias, Dubnyk is the fastest goaltender to post four shutouts with a club among goalies who have debuted in the NHL’s expansion era (1967-68 or later).
Since Jan. 15, he ranks first in the NHL in shutouts, T-1st in wins, 2nd in SV% and fourth in GAA. Overall this season he ranks T-4th in the NHL in shutouts and SV% and 10th in GAA.
