Throughout Camp, Colton Gillies will provide his thoughts on the experience. Gillies, a 6-foot-4, 189-pound forward from White Rock, B.C., was Minnesota's first choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (No. 16 overall), and is attending his third such camp.

My alarm went off this morning at 8:47 a.m. as I was trying to capitalize on every ounce of sleep I could get! I had some oatmeal at the Downtowner again before making my way to the rink to work out. Today, we just had to work out -- no ice time -- which I think was intended to give us a little rest, so we can keep the intensity up at practices.
Our new Strength and Conditioning Coach Chris has been great, and he seems very knowledgeable and extremely determined to teach everyone the correct ways to train and stretch, as well showing us techniques for injury prevention. When everyone was finished working out, we had media training, where we learned that there are three things to take into consideration when talking to the media: people react 10% to your words, 30% to your voice and 60% to your body language! It was all really interesting.
After a pretty chill morning, I went back to the hotel and slept from 2:30-3:30 and then bummed around until 5:45 when we hopped on the bus to Cooks on Grand Ave. for cooking lessons! Tonight, our fate was in our own hands! All I was thinking was that this meal could be either terrible or average, as we broke into our five teams, each with the responsibility of making one edible dish ... We all started off pretty slow, but eventually we all got it together, with the exception of Darcy Kuemper
, who almost lit the room on fire!! The kitchen went from looking like it was filled with a bunch of clueless 9-year-olds, to looking like Iron Chef America!! ( OK, so I exaggerate just a bit!) Everyone had tons of fun and we learned a lot ... and the food wasn't too bad either!
The final dishes were:
Grilled Steak Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing
Grilled Mash Potatoes and Pan Roasted Asparagus with Feta
Bourbon-Honey Cedar Plank Salmon
Pasta Primavera with Grilled Chicken (my group)
Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce
I know, I am just as shocked as you are!!!
